R. Kelly Is the most successful American R&B singer, songwriter and record producer.
When R. Kelly was 11, he was shot while riding his bicycle. The singer claims that a group of boys trying to steal his bike shot him.
R. Kelly says that he grew up surrounded by women and whenever his mother and grandmother were away, one woman would take advantage of the young preteen and sexually abused him.
According to his high school music teacher, R. Kelly grew up in a simple home. When asked to describe this further, Lena McLin says that the home was bare, with just one table and one chair.
R. Kelly also had an interest in basketball while in high school. Had his music teacher not advised him to shift to music, he would probably be a pro basketball player.
R. Kelly’s first marriage was to deceased R&B singer Aaliyah. When the couple married in 1994, she was only 15 years old.
R. Kelly was sued by a woman for $10 million who claimed that she was forced to have sex with him when she was 15.
R. Kelly’s manager Barry Hankerson resigns from that position becouse of his interest in underage females.
In 2002, R. Kelly was charged with 21 counts of sex-related crimes, all against one girl.
In 2018, Spotify, Apple Music, and Pandora decided to stop promoting R. Kelly’s music in support of Mute R. Kelly. However, after several people criticized the music promoters, Spotify reversed its decision.
