Beal was born on June 28, 1993, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Besta and Bobby Beal. He has four brothers, all of whom were college athletes.


Bradley Beal was part of the United States National Basketball team for the 2010 FIBA Under-17 World Championship. He was declared the Most Valuable Player of the tournament and made it to the All-Tournament Team.
